UDP Offload or in Chelsio’s case WD-UDP is a method where the processing required by the UDP stack is done in user space as opposed to kernel space. This is important since the Terminator Series ( Terminator 4 (T4) and Terminator 5 (T5) ) cards/adapters eliminate the need for very costly context switches, which are necessary when the CPU transitions from user to kernel context and back again. |
